Resolution of Generic Safety Issues: Item D-3: Control Rod Drop Accident ( NUREG-0933, Main Report with Supplements 1–35 )

DESCRIPTION

This NUREG-04713 item is an ACRS generic concern which involves assessing the uncertainties in calculations of the control rod drop accident, including the choice of negative reactivity insertion rate due to a scram and the potential difference between a two-dimensional calculation and a three-dimensional calculation.

CONCLUSION

A DSI memorandum166 issued on March 6, 1978 contained three documents that described the technical bases for considering this issue resolved. Based upon this evaluation, DSI concluded that no further action on this issue was required.382 Thus, this item has been RESOLVED.
